From the course name itself, emerging technologies, it is all about discovering new technologies that could help us improve our way of living. Man can benefit a lot from different technologies because of the information, credibility, features, etc that it gives.
I learn a lot from this subject by participating in class reporting or attending seminars. This helps me improved my skills and learned something new about technologies. During class reporting, I discover new technologies that could help our environment. From storing information to new gadgets these course reminded me of the importance of technology in our lives. I remember when one of our group mates talk about the evolution of computer and cell phones. Before, it is hard to imagine a computer being held or controlled by a touch of your fingers. But now, looking up to the present, these kinds of functionalities is already possible because technology tends to improve human needs. I had a great time from the class reporting because it improve my skills especially with interacting with other people and answering question from our class.
During seminars, I learn about different kinds of technology that could help my IT career. Example of it is the seminar about enterprise application. It challenged me as a student to practice programming and learned other languages. Also, the speaker taught us about managing your codes and applying short codes in programming. After that seminar, I realize learning these basic principles can lead me to success in my IT career. Another seminar that would help my IT career is the topic about Ilumina Tv. This seminar helped me realize that in order to achieve success, a person should have ideas or back-up plans because like the Ilumina Tv, it is about creating a technology television that hasn’t been created before. It’s true that to be a successful with IT, you should have the qualities of a person that loves to imagine and knows how to execute and implement projects. Other seminars that I’ve attended are wi-tribe 4G, NOSQL, cloud computing, ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and Mobile Technology trends. In the NOSQL seminar, I learned about managing the database in more efficient way by analyzing and lessening the data of the database. This is useful for my IT career because in the future, I can be assigned to manage the database of an organization. But what I found most interesting is the seminar about the mobile technology trends. I found the seminar interesting because we can all relate it and it shows the practical side of going into the mobile technology career path. Nowadays, one would hardly see anyone without a mobile phone. This just shows that mobile phones have become a part of our lives and is continually evolving to fit our lifestyle. With this kind of career, I know that there would have more opportunities since mobile phones haven’t reached their greatest capabilities yet. Also, I believe that people are asking for more powerful mobile phones that would give them the satisfaction that they need and want.
With all the seminars combined, I learned to appreciate that role of technology in our life today. This subject prepares my skills and knowledge in my future career in a form of interacting with other people and knowing the trends of technology. Many take it for granted but I later realized that these technologies are present to help us have a better and faster life. In the future, we would never know how far technologies would bring us but it would be something really exciting to look forward to.
